Upcycled Towel Rug

Hey guys! So recently I have had a couple people ask me how I did this. It was in fact that my sister in law thought of a great idea to use old towels and make a rug with them. I thought the idea was so cool so when she offered for me to help her out I quickly said yes! It was so much fun getting to cut up the old towels and crochet together the masterpiece that she is finishing up and so happy that she is going to be giving me her extra towels and towel shreds so that I can make one for my house in the bathroom and for the front door as they are made to absorb!!Anyways here is the tutorial with pictures!! I hope you guys have as much fun as we did! It really is easy to do and if you are a beginner here is how you do a chain stitch and a Single crochet stitch.

P.S. Be aware it makes a huge mess so be prepared with a broom or a vacuum if you have carpet!

Things you will need:

Old or highly used towels you no longer want
Scissors
A crochet hook preferably size 12, this one was blue and came with a smaller grey one as well Boye brand.

abbreviations- Ch-Chain SC-single crochet
and your ready to go!

Now first we did a round spiral outcome this was done in double crochet,
but she didn't like the effect so she changed it to a rectangle rug.
I personally liked this outcome as well and will upload her finished product when she is done with it. This is the basic outcome of what you should get depending on how long you want it. :)

To begin cut your towel an inch at a time. leaving an inches worth of space. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT CUT ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF YOUR TOWEL. It will leave you will small strands that you have to constantly tie together and takes a lot longer to complete. If along the way of cutting up and down you forget and cut it off. It is okay!! Just tie it up to the next one and keep on crocheting. This is how it should look.
at the end your will have a big  pile of strands like this!!
Actually that is just one strand hehehe, but you get the picture! So now is when it gets even more fun!!

So to start Ch 24. Now to begin your Single Crochet you are going to skip ONE chain and begin your SC. You will skip one because the first one will undo the chain if you go back through it and go to the second CH because you always chain one before starting your next row. Next, now that you have started your first row of SC you will SC 24 then Ch one and move on to your next row. Continue this process until it is the desired length you would like it to be wala! you have an upcycled towel rug!
I hope you guys enjoyed this and I will be back to show you mine once I get my towels. Have a lovely day everyone!! If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to comment below! <3 <3

Also if you can post pictures!! I would love to see everyone else's outcomes or how you changed yours to fit your personal style!

Officially Paranoid

As many of my viewers know I had a recent spider experience in my house. We had a brown recluse which thankfully our landlord got rid of for us over a span of three days...When I talk about how scared me and my hubby were you guys just may share a few laughs! So the story as follows..my honey, who works at night came home after a normal day..little did we know it would haunt us for days to come. Anyways, so a couple hours after his gaming time and our family movie while eating breakfast he goes to shower before falling asleep. Next thing I know I hear "OOOH MY GOSH!!!" the shower curtain being moved and the door flung open to a hubby speedily walking my way and in freak out mode. After I laugh a little bit (as i rarely see him  get like this and knew nothing bad was wrong) I regain myself and ask him what's wrong. He goes to tell me "there is a huge spider in the bath tub and what should i should, Amber? what should I do?!" I say what! let me see, go look, freak myself out, grab my phone take a picture from a VERY safe distance and by very safe I mean not even close to the bath tub and have my camera phone zoomed in all the way to get as close to hopefully be identified once I posted it on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. As my hubby is there running steaming hot water to try and kill it, the thing gets smart and tries to climb away from the water...what was even smarter was that once we turned off the water it took its leg that got water on it, to what looked like its mouth and started to stroke it and in about 5 minutes it was able to change positions away from the water that sat on the bottom of the tub. In the mean time my hubby wanted me to see what kind of spider it was. Mind you my husband normally kills spiders like nothing but this time, it got to him and he couldn't even look at a picture. After typing in what we thought it was i looked at the pictures to find it confirmed...I also received a comment from a paramedic friend of mine as well as a friend via Facebook confirming it even more so. The lovely recluse spider...the pictures were bad enough and now I had one in my safe spot, my home. We took our kids from the bedroom as it is right next to the bathroom. The hubby then proceeded to read more and after I made a comment stating that scientists believe a spider is never more than three feet away from you at all times, he proceeded to go to the kitchen and place himself on the steps tool. I for one felt he was being a bit dramatic and just could not stop laughing. Eventually after he read enough, we packed up the kids in the car, packed a duffel bag of clothes and off to the in laws we went as we asked our landlord to take care of the problem and seal up areas so that they don't keep coming in. It was quite a ride as even on the way up we had the Hebe gibes and creepy crawlies and every little thing scared us, but more so him so I couldn't stop laughing. As we came home today I looked around the house to make sure nothing new had come in while we were out.

Today went great until bath time..I almost had a heart attack that still has my heart racing. My son goes to take a bath as I make his milk for bed then I hear him scream and say it won't get off me! As I run to him yelling to him to get out of the tub and ask what happened...low and behold there was nothing there...but he did have dead spider guts on his fingers from when our Landlord killed the spider so I cleaned the tub and cleaned him up. what he thought was a bug or something was just hair that got caught on his hand. My heart was out of my chest and I looked all over the bathroom constantly to make sure nothing was there as I took a shower. Talk about paranoia kicking in and not feeling safe in your own home :( I'm hoping I get some sleep tonight as my day ended on a heart wrenching worried mommy moment that I just cannot shake just yet.

On a happier note, I will be posting up a tutorial tomorrow on how to upcycle a rug from  old or funny colored towels. I would have done it today but my internet is down due to us forgetting to pay our bill with the whole spider incident and a storm earlier that won't have the line fixed til tomorrow. I have pictures and how colorful it is coming along. My sister in law thought of the idea and I helped her a little along the way and get to make one of my own when she done with the length she wants. So good night all and I will see you tomorrow!! <3

The kids are getting so big now, my 4 years old is wanting me to make him leg warmers so that he can slide on the floor and my 18 month old is wanting to help me crochet still but making an even bigger mess in the process! hahaha, I hope the phase ends soon and i can't wait til she is old enough to actually make her own things like her first granny square blank with me :) Also soon I will be adding new items to my shops!
